My English Foundation Class

Focus: Phonics Awareness | Sound Recognition

The entry point for early readers. Children will discover new ways to learn and develop English sounds accurately and begin mapping letters to sounds through songs, games and structured activities.

My Reading Readiness Class

Focus: Phonics | Blending | Early Decoding

Children build a solid base of sound-letter knowledge and learn to blend sounds into words. The focus shifts from recognising individual sounds to decoding simple words and short texts with growing confidence.

My Reading Class

Focus: Reading | Fluency | Vocabulary | Comprehension

Reading with fluency, expanding vocabulary and understanding what is read become the key goals. Students develop reading independence and use the skills built in earlier stages to tackle longer texts.

My Primary Preparation Class

ABOUT OUR OPEN DOOR EVENT

Who is the Open Door Event for?

The event is designed for parents of children aged 3 to 12, whether they are just starting out in phonics or preparing for Primary 1 or PSLE English. Our teachers will tailor the on-site assessment and programme recommendation to your child's current stage, so there is no single profile we are looking for.

What happens during the free assessment?

One of our teachers conducts an individualised reading and English assessment with your child. The assessment identifies where your child currently sits across the key stages of reading development, including phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension, and recommends the class that fits their level.

Is there any cost to attend?

Attendance at the event is free. The on-site reading assessment is complimentary. Exclusive enrolment discounts and a complimentary starter kit (bag and pencil case) are available for families who enrol during the event period.

My child is already in Primary school. Is the event relevant?

Yes. In addition to our Reading Programme for preschool and kindergarten children, My English School offers a Primary Programme for P1 to P5 students covering grammar, vocabulary, composition, comprehension, and oral communication in line with the MOE English Language Syllabus. Our PSLE Preparation Class supports P6 students with examination strategy, writing, and oral preparation. Our teachers will assess your child on the day and recommend the appropriate class.

How do I confirm my slot and which centre to attend?

Complete the form on this page. Our team will be in touch within several working days to confirm your assessment slot and centre location. You can indicate your preferred centre in the notes field, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

When does the enrolment discount expire?

Discounts and benefits are available for new enrolments made within the event period. Specific terms and conditions apply and will be shared when our team confirms your slot. If you have any questions about timing, please mention them in the notes field when you register.
