Our programme is specially designed to help students develop their reading comprehension skills and understand meanings of words in context. They will be exposed to a variety of text types, learn grammar explicitly and hone their writing skills. The skills that they will be exposed to are as follows:
Our primary preparation class introduces key components of the MOE Primary 1 English curriculum, including reading, writing, listening and oracy. This ensures that children are familiar with core concepts before entering Primary 1.
By simulating the primary school setting, our primary preparation class helps children become accustomed to classroom routines, group learning, and teacher instructions — easing the transition from preschool.
Knowing what to expect helps children feel more secure. Our primary preparation class builds familiarity and self-assurance, reducing nervousness on the first day of school.
Our primary preparation class teaches young learners to follow instructions, stay focused during lessons, and participate actively — all essential habits for successful learning in primary school.
Through small tasks and age-appropriate responsibilities, children learn to be self-reliant, helping them manage their belongings and navigate routines more independently.

The lessons are 1.5 hours every week. Students will work on enhancing their reading and comprehension skills so that they will be ready for Primary 1.
There are no formal prerequisites for joining the class. However, students should ideally be able to recognise common words, read and comprehend short texts, and answer basic who, what, when, where, and why questions. An assessment can be arranged to determine if your child is ready to begin our Primary 1 Preparation class.
